Three family members, two disasters and one shared desire to move on
The Rivlin brothers, Gidi and Aviad, were brutally slaughtered by Nazi Hamas terrorists in the midst of the holy day of Simchat Torah. The catastrophe that befell the parents was multiplied when 19 years earlier they lost his brother – also Gideon – who was killed by an explosive device of Hamas terrorists.
In the first hours of the slaughter on the morning of Simchat Torah, the silences among the family members and the ten brothers became longer and harder. First they tried to find out through the security forces who were roaming the area, who saw or heard or knew what happened to the two boys – but the silence continued to echo until it hit.
Troubles followed one another when it became clear what happened to Aviad, and after that what happened to the second brother – Gidi. The darkness that descended on the Rivlin family cannot be described. Since then, the sweet routine turned into an unbearable bereavement, when the parents and the broken family try with all their might to recover and return to life.
Bad fate has struck 3 times in the Rivlin family and there is no way to bring back the murdered sons, not even the murdered uncle. Bereavement is difficult and terrible even when it is single, especially when it comes to double and triple bereavement. The tragedy is enormous and the struggle is unbearable!
The events dragged the family into large debts, and not only is the family’s financial situation bad, but they are facing immediate eviction from the apartment, God forbid. To the absurdity, the two brothers who supported the family economy and were the mainstay of the house, are the ones who are gone now.
We all join together to help the family in its difficult times and to prove that life is stronger than death.
Protecting the family, keeping it strong and making sure it does not fall apart – this is our duty. An obligation that should not be ignored.
In memory of Gidi and Aviad, we will save their family!
But we also need you for that
The Rivlin family would not be left alone!
